With a lineage of musical excellence spanning seven generations, I am deeply rooted in the world of Tabla. My journey began under the nurturing guidance of my father, Pandit Ishwar Lal Mishra, at the tender age of six. Further, I honed my skills under the mentorship of Pandit Chhote Lal Mishra.
My family is a treasure trove of accomplished musicians, including the late Pandit Bachaou Mishra, the late Pandit Banshi Maharaj, and the gifted Sarangi & Vocal Master, the late Pandit Navaratan Mishra. Even my grandfather, the late Pandit Douji Mishra, was a renowned Vocalist from the Banaras Gharana.
Education:
Master of Music (Tabla) from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India in 2005.
Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a focus on Indian social thought, development of concepts in social thought, methods of social research and statistics, sociology of development, sociology of administration, and sociology of deviance from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India in 1998.
Sangeeth Prabhakar (Tabla) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, India in 1995.
Work Experience:
I received a Senior Fellowship award from CCRT (Center for Cultural Resources and Training) in 2018 under the Ministry of Culture, allowing me to delve into extensive research in Tabla. Over the past 22-plus years, I've been dedicated to imparting Tabla training to students of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and have had the privilege of teaching both national and international students.
Performances:
My Tabla performances have graced prestigious venues such as the Habitat Center in New Delhi, Shruthi event in Mumbai, and the Pt. Vishnu Sevak Mishra Memorial Concert in Malda, West Bengal. I've shared my musical talents at a multitude of locations, including institutions and temples in Varanasi and various other cities.
