Tutor Bio
I am a dedicated and accomplished saxophonist, having earned a Bachelor's degree in Saxophone Performance and Psychology with a remarkable GPA of 4.14 from The University of Alabama in 2023. Building on this foundation, I pursued advanced studies at Michigan State University, achieving a perfect cumulative GPA of 4.0. In this academic journey, I attained a Master's in Jazz Studies (2025) and continued to refine my craft with a Master's in Saxophone Performance (2026).
My musical journey has been enriched by notable ensemble experiences, including roles as Second Alto Saxophonist in George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the Rome Symphony Orchestra (May 2021) and Tenor Saxophonist for George Gershwin's American in Paris with The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra (January 2023). Serving as Lead Alto Saxophonist in The University of Alabama Jazz Ensemble (August 2020-Spring 2023) and contributing to Theater Tuscaloosa's production of "The Sister Act" as Reed I (Flute, Clarinet, and Alto Saxophone) in July 2023 further shaped my versatile musical profile.
My dedication and excellence have garnered recognition through various awards, such as achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America (November 2017) and securing a Full Tuition Scholarship from The University of Alabama Honor Band (February 2019). Notably, I clinched First Place in the Instrumental Division and First Place Overall at the Guild of the Birmingham Music Club (March 2020). A First Place win for the state of Alabama in the Music Teacher's National Association Young Artist Woodwind Competition (November 2021) and the honor of being selected as a 2022-2023 University of Alabama School of Music "Presser Scholar" (May 2022) underscore my musical prowess.
In addition to my performance achievements, I have imparted my knowledge as a music educator. This includes teaching middle and high school saxophonists at Moody High School (December 2021) and Tuscaloosa County High School (January 2022), emphasizing fundamentals and preparation for assessments. My role at the Community Music School at The University of Alabama School of Music (August 2021-May 2023) involved teaching private lessons and tutoring music theory to middle and high school students, tailoring instruction to meet individual needs.
Beyond the realm of music, I've gained valuable experiences, including observing and assisting in woodwind instrument repair at Collins Hornworks (June-July 2019) and serving as a Peer Advisor (May-July 2022) where I engaged in one-on-one conversations about campus life and student involvement with incoming students, while also assisting in the advising and registration process.
My multifaceted journey reflects a deep commitment to musical excellence, education, and continual growth in the world of music.
